and dry summers. The valley&#8217;s alluvial, stony, well-drained, and moderately fertile soils, combined with its exceptional climatic conditions, create ideal conditions for the production of high-quality red wines, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon.<\/p><p>Vi\u00f1a Vistamar sources its grapes for wines from two vineyards in this valley: San Bernardo and El Puntal, the latter located in Isla de Maipo. Both vineyards utilize the vertical shoot position trellising system, and their soils are characterized by gravel with a clayey horizon and a loamy texture, which promotes deep root growth. The valley enjoys a temperate Mediterranean climate with an annual rainfall of approximately 400 mm and experiences significant temperature fluctuations, ranging from above 30\u00b0C in the summer to below 0\u00b0C in the winter.<\/p><p>The composition of the soil varies based on the proximity to the Cachapoal River. Some areas have soils of alluvial and colluvial origin, while others boast deep, fertile soils. Vi\u00f1a Vistamar selects its grapes from the La Moralina estate within this valley, strategically located in the Andean sector of Cachapoal, a mere seven kilometers from our winery. The vineyard&#8217;s irrigation water is sourced directly from the mountain range&#8217;s thaws, thanks to its foothill position. Spring and summer bring a wide thermal amplitude to the area, which is mitigated by constant breezes that cool the vines and shield them from excessive heat. Most of the vineyard&#8217;s soils are deep to moderately deep, although some areas feature thinner soils with a compact subsoil. These regions are characterized by abundant angular stones and smooth pebbles of alluvial-colluvial origin, composed of andesitic and granite Vi\u00f1a Vistamar sources its grapes for wines from two vineyards in this valley: San Bernardo and El Puntal, the latter located in Isla de Maipo. Both vineyards utilize the vertical shoot position trellising system, and their soils are characterized by gravel with a clayey horizon and a loamy texture, which promotes deep root growth. These conditions play a significant role in ensuring the exceptional quality of the renowned Maipo wines. CACHAPOAL VALLEY The Cachapoal Valley is situated about 80 kilometers south of Santiago, Chile&#8217;s capital city, is one of the central region&#8217;s most prominent wine-producing regions. Enclosed by the Paine mountain range to the north and the Pelequ\u00e9n mountain range to the south, this valley is part of the river basin that shares its name. The valley enjoys a temperate Mediterranean climate with an annual rainfall of approximately 400 mm and experiences significant temperature fluctuations, ranging from above 30\u00b0C in the summer to below 0\u00b0C in the winter. The composition of the soil varies based on the proximity to the Cachapoal River. Some areas have soils of alluvial and colluvial origin, while others boast deep, fertile soils. Vi\u00f1a Vistamar selects its grapes from the La Moralina estate within this valley, strategically located in the Andean sector of Cachapoal, a mere seven kilometers from our winery. The vineyard&#8217;s irrigation water is sourced directly from the mountain range&#8217;s thaws, thanks to its foothill position.
