The Block wines from Viña Vistamar come from valleys renowned for their extraordinary quality, such as Casablanca and Maipo. The line, which includes five varieties, seeks to highlight and emphasize the exact block from which their grapes originate.

Since Viña Vistamar was established in 1997, its focus has been on observing and studying nature. A key aspect of their wines is the search for locations influenced by the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, as these conditions help the vines mature slowly and steadily.

Over the past 26 years, Viña Vistamar has succeeded in producing wines with a vertical structure that stand out for their elegance and remarkable freshness, sourced from Chile’s most important and renowned wine-growing valleys.

An example of this is their Block line, originating from two valleys that are globally recognized for the exceptional quality of their terroirs: Casablanca and Maipo. Following the winery’s tradition, these valleys were selected because their soil and climate conditions allow the grapes to mature at their own pace. Additionally, Block wines are made with grapes from the best block of each selected vineyard, undoubtedly highlighting the importance of this distinguished location, which significantly influences the characteristics of each wine.

The Block portfolio includes five wines. First, Block #12 Andes Cabernet Sauvignon is a full-bodied, flavorful, and persistent wine. With a deep red color, it has notes of black and red fruits like plum, cassis, and cherry, along with hints of tobacco, cinnamon, and coffee beans.

Next, Block #9 Andes Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah is a blend from the Maipo Valley, aged for 16 months in French and American oak barrels. It is a dark, intense violet color and has notes of dark chocolate and black cherries. On the palate, it has pleasant acidity and elegant, velvety tannins, very characteristic of its terroir.

Block #3 Andes Carmenere comes from Block 3 of the La Moralina estate, located in the foothills of the Andes in the Cachapoal Valley. It is an intense violet-red color, with good acidity and fruity character, a solid structure, and a long finish.

Block #1 Costa Chardonnay is made with grapes from the Belén estate in the Lo Ovalle area of Casablanca. Its harvest is 100% manual, and 40% of it is fermented with its skins to obtain more structure. It is a very fruity, fresh wine with great volume, delicate, with a delicious balance of acidity.

Finally, Block #3 Costa Pinot Noir is from the Casablanca Valley, a region characterized by a cool climate and clay soils that allow limited but high-quality production. It has notes of raspberries, fresh cherries, and flowers, and on the palate, it is intense, fruity, and slightly spicy. It is full-bodied, elegant, and complex.
